Riverside’s Ypsi Fine Arts Club | Ypsilanti

The Ypsi Fine Arts Club was inspired by the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club. The club meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Riverside Arts Center. Participants will have the chance to present two pieces of original art. Members of the public are welcome, including artists, art lovers, collectors, and curators. Attendees are not required to present, so no worries if you don’t come bearing artwork. Local artists will have the chance to not only showcase their work but to talk about their process. Who knows, you may even end up making a sale! If you plan on presenting work, arrive and sign up by 6:00 PM. Presentations will occur on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 5:00 PM and presentations will begin a half hour later. Art that hasn’t been presented yet must remain covered. Artists will be called by sign-up order. Each presenting artist will have the floor for two minutes to discuss their piece and process, while volunteers walk around the space showing attendees the artwork.

University of Michigan Dance Company 2025 | Ann Arbor

Power Center for Performing Arts | 121 Fletcher Street

The 2025 edition of the Department of Dance’s lively Power Center showcase will feature choreography by professional guest artists as well as university faculty. FLOCK is a co-choreographed German/American dance company that’s renowned for its non-gendered partnering and unique approach to both physicality and storytelling. The dance company will join faculty members Tzveta Kassabova (Theatre & Drama), Biza Sompa (Dance), and Robin Wilson (Dance) in Wilson’s final Power Center performance before her impending retirement. Recommended ages for the showcase are 3 and up. Tickets are required, with student pricing set at $16 and reserved seating for the public priced at $29 to $35. The performances begin at 7:30 PM on opening night (February 6th), at 8:00 PM on February 7th and 8th, and 2:00 PM on February 9th for the final showing at the Power Center for Performing Arts.

Ann Arbor Fiber Arts Expo | Ann Arbor

The 2025 Fiber Arts Expo will take place at the Downtown Library from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Attendees should prepare for a fiber-filled day with a full slate of demonstrations and presentations, as well as a lobby full of local vendors to shop from. Vendors will be selling accessories, patterns, books, dyes, and all things fiber-related — so be sure to check them out! This year, the expo will focus on the history and origin of a variety of fiber arts. There will be drop-in opportunities for a sampling of fiber art projects, as well as hands-on quilting, spinning, and weaving activities. The schedule of events kicks off with vendors and demos in the first-floor lobby at 10:00 AM and continues until 5:00 PM. A lecture by Jason Krick on Visible Mending will be held from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM in the fourth-floor meeting room. Be sure to check out the Secret Lab for drop-in open crafting. Hands-on demonstrations such as spinning on a wheel with a local spinner, as well as working on a quilt square and machine sewing with the Ann Arbor Modern Quilt Guild, are presented in the multi-purpose room.

Based on Arnold Lobel’s beloved children’s books and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score by Robert and Willie Reale that bubbles with melody and wit, the show is an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting experience for the whole family.  This whimsical musical follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the curmudgeonly Toad – through four, fun-filled seasons, meeting new friends like Man Bird and Lady Bird; Father, Mother and Young Frog; Turtle; Squirrel and many more along the way. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. The Ark’s 38th Annual Storytelling Festival | Ann Arbor

This annual event brings both locally based and nationally known storytellers to The Ark stage. The event kicks off on February 21st with the Third Annual Liar’s Contest, featuring six first-class liars and three judges. The Liar’s Contest is priced at $20. The MC this year will once again be the amazing Amir Baghdadchi. Saturday night’s program is priced from $30-$40 and features storytellers Elizabeth Ellis, Mary Hamilton, Jane Fink and Steve Daut. On Sunday, February 23rd families are invited to attend the Ford Family Series featuring storytellers such as Yasu Ishida and Elizabeth Ellis. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. The show will feature traditional Japanese theatre, music, origami, magic, and storytelling, while Ishida guides audiences to the enchanting land of Japan. Elizabeth Ellis grew up closer to home in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky and she has work that’s been recognized by the Tejas Storytelling Association with the John Henry Faulk Award.

Yoga in the Park | Dexter

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to get outdoors or to move your body more, Dexter’s Yoga in the Park series is a great way to do both. This yoga series is organized by the Dexter Wellness Center. The sessions are hosted in the city’s Mill Creek Park from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM each Saturday. Yoga in the Park is free and open to all ages and abilities. The classes will be led by a certified yoga instructor but you don’t have to be a practicing yogi to partake in this event. Due to the outdoor location, participants get to enjoy the ambiance of the nature around them, curating a relaxing and rejuvenating vibe for everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring water and a towel.

Oregon Ducks at Michigan Wolverines Basketball | Ann Arbor

Both the men’s and women’s Michigan basketball teams will be hosting the Oregon Ducks in February at the Crisler Center. The women take on Oregon on the 2nd, with the match scheduled for 12:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now, ranging in price from $13 to $93. The men’s basketball team goes up against the Ducks on the 5th at 6:30 PM, with ticket prices ranging from $16 to $218. Whether you’re an alumnus or simply a basketball fan, these games are sure to be a great time for all. Bring the family out or get a group of friends together to cheer on the home team. The Crisler Center seats over 12,500 spectators and is also home to the University of Michigan’s women’s gymnastics team.

Since 2017, the Saline Indoor Farmers Market has been proud to supply the area with fresh produce, meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, baked goods, crafts, and more.
